Candace Parker has her first child
According to the team’s official website, Los Angeles Sparks star center Candace Parker has given birth to her first child, a baby girl weighing 7 pounds and 6 ounces and measuring 20 inches long.
“Shelden and I are thrilled,” Parker said in a release. “This is such a life changing moment for us, we feel blessed to have a healthy and beautiful baby girl.”
Last season, Parker averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in her first WNBA season. She was also on the U.S. team that won a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics this past August.
Parker plans on rejoining the Sparks once she gets permission from her doctor. The WNBA season begins June 6.
