What To Watch Tonight (7/10/08)
LA Angels (54-37) @ Texas Rangers (48-44), 5:05 PM, FSN West
With the Angels down 2-1 in this four-game series, John Lackey tries to even the series tonight as he will face-off against Scott Feldman of the Rangers. Lackey comes off his worst outing this season, when he gave up six runs in as many innings against the Blue Jays at home. Feldman looks to win a third consecutive start for the first time. After last night’s debacle of a pitching job by Frank Rodriguez, the Angels will yet again have to be very careful of Josh Hamilton, MLB leader in runs batted in. Lackey brings his 1.93 ERA up against the highest-scoring offense in the MLB, and we will see if pitching or hitting wins this battle…
Prediction: Angels
Florida Marlins (47-44) @ LA Dodgers (45-46), 7:10 PM, FSN Prime Ticket
With a win over the Braves last night, the Dodgers moved into a tie for first place in the worst division in baseball. The Marlins, trailing Philadelphia by 1.5 games for first place in the NL East, look to take advantage of their poor division as well. Tonight marks the first game of a four-game series. The Dodgers, carried by their pitchers all year long, have a chance to reach .500 for the first time since May 30th. Chan Ho Park will be making only his fourth start of the season, but he will be going up against Florida’s Josh Johnson, who will be starting for the first time since July 4th, 2007. The Dodgers look to hit well against this pitcher coming off Tommy John surgery. Chan Ho will have to keep the Marlins’ home run total very low if the Dodgers want a chance to win. After Hanley Ramirez and Mike Jacobs homered last night, the Marlins now lead the MLB with 130 dingers. Matt Kemp will try to continue his good play against the Marlins, as he hit 6-for-15 with six RBIs in the first series between the teams.
Prediction: Dodgers
Prediction accuracy: 50% (1-1)
