SEC Night and Veteran Showdown
First off let me just say that it is such an honor to write about the legendary Los Angeles Sparks so let’s make the best of these posts.
Tonight is filled with excitement, as WNBA legends Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson face off for the first time since the 20o6 season. The Sparks (11-6) will be coming off a big eleven point victory against their division rival Phoenix Mercury on July 6th. It was the same game in which Candace Parker also scored 31 points.
Since the WNBA’s formation in 1997, the Sparks and Comets have faced each other 46 times, and the Sparks hold the upper hand in the series, as it’s 25-21 in LA’s favor. Last year on August 3rd, Tina Thompson scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help win the game 66-56. Sixteen days later on August 19th, the Comets won again 82-72 with Tina scoring 22 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.
The Comets (9-10) lost their last game to the Mercury on July 8th 94-99. This is likely the biggest game of the season, considering the Candace Parker-Sylvia Fowles matchup.
Tonight also is SEC Night for the fans, as they will be able to see their favorite SEC players such as Candace Parker (Tennessee), Shannon Bobbitt (Tennessee), DeLisha Milton-Jones
(Florida), and Sidney Spencer (Tennessee) just to name a few.
Have fun and enjoy the game!! See you in a few!!
P.S. Don’t forget to vote for Candace for the ESPY’s at espys.tv!
